President's Message
Dear EFWBA Members,
Without question, this is the most dificult newsletter I have had to present since becoming president. With so much going on halfway around the world, and so much to deal with here at home, I find it difficult to concentrate...as I'm sure you do as well. However, cope we must and cope we will. I simply try to remember that many more are managing issues far more important than my measly schedule.
I am saddened to report in this newsletter that we lost our founding member, Mr. Conrad Dupree, Friday, March 14, 2003. Mr. Dupree was our first president and worked tirelessly to build the organization from 1974 until his health would no longer allow him to attend our meetings or be actively involved on a daily basis. However, he was ALWAYS interested in whatever we were working toward and kept up with us through this newsletter, telephone calls, and visits with friends Needless to say, he will be missed by our membership and many, many others.
"March Madness" refers to more than professional sports in the city of Fort Worth. Good Lord!! Eight(8) candidates for Mayor, and if it had not been for the filing deadline a few more would have probably announced...as I am quite sure that we had not hit the bottom of the barrel on March 19th!! In any case please, please take the time and energy to DEBATE and discuss the issues that are or will be important to this organization and the neighborhoods of East Fort Worth. There will be at least two forums in April that will hopefully give you the opportunity to hear the candidate's positions. One is on April 10th at the Botanic Gardens and one will be right here in East Fort Worth on April 15th at the Meadowbrook Middle School. We have so many important projects in the works that we truly need a Mayor with experience in our city, a working knowledge of all our neighborhoods, and a willingness to get their hands dirty in the process of helping us.
Finally, our May 1st general meeting will not include a keynote speaker. After I have given a report on the organization and where we are on various projects, there will be an opportunity to discuss any issues you wish to discuss regarding this organization, current business trends or just about anything you wish to discuss...except the upcoming election on My 3rd. So if you have items of interest you would like to put on the agenda please contact me or Alyce Boyd.
REMEMBER .YOUR VOTE AND OPINIONS COUNT. STAND UP AND BE PROUD . SPEAK UP AND BE HEARD!! GET INVOLVED IN THE PROCESS!!!
