President's Message

Dear EFWBA Members,

IF YOU HAVE NOT REGISTERED TO VOTE PLEASE DO SO BY THURSDAY, APRIL 3RD. If you need a form and/or some help filling it out please call and we will get someone by your house to help you. This election cycle has so many critical issues to DEBATE that will impact your community and your business, that it is practically a mandate that you become involved in the process and ask the tough questions…..then be prepared to go to the polls and exercise your constitutional right to elect the individual that will best represent you for the next two years…..and perhaps beyond. I am the first to admit that I have not always been diligent at exercising my right to vote, thinking that the current issues, for some reason or another, just didn't concern me or my business. However, between now and May 3rd, both you and I will have numerous opportunities to let our concerns be addressed by the candidate(s), and then choose the candidate that we feel will address OUR issues for the next two years. Please see a schedule of important dates concerning this election cycle inside the newsletter.

If you have not visited our NEW Web site please do so at efwba.org. Rod and Kevin at Pro-set Systems is doing a stand-up job with the site. It is still officially under construction and will continue to be a building and change process for some time yet. We still need to get our membership for 2003 on the site and we will also be offering "sponsorship positions" to our membership on the home page very soon. If that is something you might be interested in, please contact me by email (a0003387@airmail.net) or by phone (817) 535-6212) and I will send you the information as soon as it is finalized. If you are interested in a site of your very own, contact Rod and Kevin. Additionally, we are interested in any and all suggestions for the site. We certainly don't have all the answers and would appreciate ideas concerning links, information on the association, graphics, member web pages, etc, etc.

Finally, in the "FYI" column, the East Fort Worth Business Association has been asked to become involved in a process brought forward by Mr. Gary Jackson, our City Manager, that will improve development and development processes in Fort Worth. This committee is called the "Development Standards Task Force" and will consist of at least three (3) subcommittees. 1. Construction Codes, 2. Subdivision and Street Standards, and 3. Zoning Regulations Committee.. I am on the Zoning Regulations Committee, so any ideas you may have along zoning issues please don't hesitate to call, email or write.

REMEMBER….YOUR VOTE AND OPINIONS COUNT. STAND UP AND BE PROUD…. SPEAK UP AND BE HEARD!! GET INVOLVED IN THE PROCESS!!!
