As North Texas experiences chilly winter conditions, we hope everyone is staying warm and safe. During periods of severe weather, it’s important for our community to stay informed about service changes and closures that may affect daily routines.

Below are the latest updates impacting City of Fort Worth operations and services.


City Hall & Council Meetings

City Hall is closed today, Monday, January 26, due to winter weather conditions and will reopen at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 27.

On Tuesday, City Council will proceed with the following schedule:

  • Work Session: 12:00 p.m.

  • Executive Session: Following the work session

  • Regular City Council Meeting: 2:00 p.m.

  • Housing Finance Corporation Meeting: Immediately after

Garbage & Recycling Collection

There will be no residential garbage, recycling, yard waste, or bulk collection on:

  • Monday, January 26

  • Tuesday, January 27

Regular collections will resume Wednesday, January 28, following the normal Wednesday route.

Residents who normally have Monday or Tuesday service may place up to two extra bags out on:

  • Monday, February 2

  • Tuesday, February 3

Facility Closures

Several City of Fort Worth facilities will be closed today:

Libraries
All Fort Worth Public Library locations are closed Monday, January 26. Book drops are also closed. Libraries are fine-free, and no overdue fines will be assessed during closures. Reserved items will be held until locations reopen.

Municipal Court
All in-person scheduled dockets are canceled for Monday, January 26. The A.D. Marshal Public Courts Building will reopen at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27.

Parks & Recreation

  • All community centers are closed to the public Monday, January 26.

  • Handley Meadowbrook and Como community centers will be open only for early voting from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

  • Botanic Garden, Log Cabin Village, Fort Worth Nature Center, and all golf courses are closed Monday.

Public Events
Indoor events at the Will Rogers Memorial Center will continue as scheduled.

Business Assistance Center
The Devoyd Jennings Business Assistance Center (BAC) and the Guinn Campus are closed Monday, January 26, and will reopen at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Animal Care & Control
Both animal shelter locations are closed to the public Monday, January 26, with minimal staffing focused on animal care. Animal Field Services will continue to respond to emergency calls.
